Wee Waa High School - Bushbots Team
Namoi is a company that has a keen sense of community involvement particularly in and around those communities where our regional operations are located. We are very proud of this involvement and in the past week we have been associated with an incredible achievement in the Wee Waa community. Namoi was very pleased to be able to assist the Wee Waa High School with sponsorship and in kind support to compete in the FIRST® Robotics Competition in Sydney in mid-March 2018.
FIRST® Robotics Competition brings together students and mentors to build robots that perform in a competitive but gracious environment against teams from all over the world. A FIRST® Robotics Competition team consists of high school students typically aged 14-18. These students have to work together to design, build, program and drive robots. In building their robot and doing all the other things that go with a FIRST® Robotics Competition team, students learn valuable life skills like teamwork, collaboration, public speaking, technical science and engineering skills, Gracious Professionalism®, and others.
After a Tough 3 days of competing in Sydney, the Wee Waa High School’s FIRST® Robotics team “Bushbots” were selected to be in the #1 Alliance with 2 top ranking schools, and even though the #1 Alliance lost the finals, they have been awarded a wildcard entry and the 3 schools have been invited to compete in Houston, USA!
We are proud to have been involved and
wish the team all the best for the competition in Houston.
